Great huge carrion birds that torment the souls of the damned, the Abyssal Vultures circle the desolate planes of the Abyss in search of new victims to torment. They usually circle their intended victims in groups ranging from a solitary bird to a cloud of six. They rake and tear at denizens of the Abyss with their beaks and claws, rending away the brittle flesh of those condemned to spend an eternity within the walls of damnation.
Any who travel here willingly but do not belong, such as a party on a quest, may find themselves under attack from these foul creatures. The rake of their noisome claws and peck of their sharp beaks inflict a disease identical to Mummy Rot. It can only be cured as that disorder.
These birds appear as huge vultures and have a foul stench emanating from every part of them.
