Perhaps related to the Dryad of woodland areas, the Mist Lady is an apparition that lives near the frozen peaks of the tallest mountains. Curious about "warm beings", the Mist Lady seeks through a Charm ability to entice those who interest her into her lair. Once within, the Mist Lady will use an innate ability to cast Sleep upon her "guests". When the spell takes effect, she "freezes" the individual, preserving them in a form of temporal stasis within a huge ice crystal.

The Mist Lady does not do so out of malice, but simply because it is so enamored of more corporeal beings than herself. Those so captured are not harmed, and the lair of the Mist Lady usually contains 1d8 "visitors" frozen within their own chambers. The Mist Lady will use any weapon on hand to prevent anyone from disturbing the "sleep" of these "visitors". If reduced to 50% or fewer hit points, the Mist Lady will use an innate Gaseous Form ability to escape. The Mist Lady can be negotiated with, and if offered gifts of silver or promises to return to visit her, she may (50% probability) release her "guests".

The Mist Lady appears as a woman of alabaster skin and silver hair, wreathed in a fog. This fog is generated by the Mist Lady, and makes her more difficult to hit; she can see through it, but it obscures all attempts (including Infravision) to see through. A Gem of True Seeing can pierce the veil, and any using such treat her armor class as 9.
